Rural Development Corporation
Rural Development Corporation was founded in 1972 and has two (2) divisions: Cumberland Family Shelter and Southern Regional Food Distribution Center which are both located on the same property.
The Cumberland Family Shelter is a homeless shelter that serves single men, single women, and women/men with children or intact families. The majority of all those that we serve are from Cumberland County but we will provide services to those from surrounding areas providing the Board of Social Services makes placement arranges with our facility.
The Southern Regional Food Distribution Center is a food bank that distributes U.S.D.A.-TEFAP Program (United State Department of Agriculture Department of Agriculture-the Emergency Food Assistance Program) S.F.P.P. (State Food Purchase Program) C.F.P.P. (Community Food Pantry Program) and donated foods to food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. Our food agencies are located in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem and Mercer Counties. All of the food that is distributed from our agency is provided free of charge to all distributing agencies and recipients.
